Moving up and out!
I’m still sick but I suspect it’s in it’s last stages. I’m suffering a stuffy nose and an annoying cough but that’s about it. I’m never sick for a long period of time, three days tops and I hate going to the Dr so I usually just go to the pharmacy for some flu meds. This time I didn’t even use anything and I’m surprised it hasn’t actually gotten worse.
J and I started actively looking around for a bigger place yesterday because I got so depressed with our small space, J just got sick of my whining and started phoning around. So the first place we looked at was gorgeous! It’s a newly built complex near where we stay at the moment, so everything is still fresh and clean and newly painted. The kitchen was also gorgeous but unfortunately there was almost no garden, just a small patch and also the living room was tiny. The main reason we need a garden is we want to get two small dogs and we really need to get them a big enough space. I was sad that we couldn’t immediately say yes but I have to think about it in terms of pros and con’s and that place was just too small.
The second place we looked at was perfect! Big enough garden, two bedrooms, spacious living room and a nice kitchen. Even the rent is below what we decided on! The only down side is that this place needs a little work. Some people could have it just as it is but unfortunately I’m picky about certain things. I want the whole place repainted and new light fittings installed. So because we have to hire this place from a landlord it’s his responsibility to see to all these things. J is going to give him a call today and if he agrees to give the place a makeover we’re in! The current tenants are moving by the 1st so I have no idea when we’ll be moving in. I’ll just have to wait and see what J and the landlord agreed on. So cross your fingers for us please!
I know we haven’t really looked at a lot of places but I figure what go on searching if you’ve found a place that’s perfect. In a great area and at a great price! Plus the place has a built in braai in the back garden so J was like: ‘This is the PERFECT place’. For him, any place with a braai would be. Go figure.

Glad you are feeling better and GOODLUCK! on finding a new home

Thank you JQ!
That’s fabulous news
If you have that gut feel for the 2nd place you view … why wait around looking at other places while someone else decides to rent it? I say go for it! Will be keeping fingers crossed that the Landlord says yes

Thanks PhillyGirl! I appreciate it! Whoo-hoo! I’m excited!
YAY! You found a place! Well, hopefully the landlord agrees to the makeover. Fingers crossed for you! Toes too! =D Hehehe. I wish I could get all better in 3 days. Urgh… been having this bloody cough for more than a week. =(

Thanks Eva!! I hope your cough gets better soon!
Wow, looks like you’ll be moving out pretty soon! I hope the landlord will be fine with the makeovers so you can get the house.
A steam of Vicks will help clear the stuffy nose. Be well! xoxo

I’m SO glad you got it! YAY! Can’t wait!
Oh, exciting! Good luck with finding a new place, that’s gotta be so fun! I hope you start feeling better, too!

Thank you Ang!
That’s so exciting about that apartment. Luke and I looked at one place and we loved it, so I’m sure it’s ok that you guys haven’t looked at a whole lot of places. By the way, did you change the pictures uptop? If not, I haven’t noticed them until now and I think they’re pretty. And if so, I think they’re pretty.
****
So are you and Luke moving into a new place then? The one you guys looked at? And yes, the header is new! Thanks for noticing. lol
That sounds great. *crosses fingers, toes and eyes* Hopefully the landlord will agree to the makeover and you’ll get the place. Why look elsewhere if you’ve already found the perfect place, plus don’t let others get in there before you. Glad you’re feeling better too… x

Whoo-Hoo!! Thanks Claire! That’s what we thought.
Congrats on your move! What’s a braai? What kind of dogs are you going to get, and why two?
I like your blog! It reads like a letter from a friend.

So many questions.
I like questions! A braai is a BBQ - only better in South Africa. And we want two, because one would get lonely. Thank you for the great comment!
Hi BP!! Thank you and wow…I like you!!
Wooo!! A new, bigger apartment, and maybe a couple of dogs too!! Your future is looking quite bright. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. And I hope you feel better soon!!!

Thank Blue, and I have to say that I’m getting REALLY excited about the move, once we sign the contract I’ll start planning.
When you know, you know. That’s how I felt when I bought my house. It just felt perfect. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the landlord is willing to accomodate you. He should at the very least paint after the old tenants move out. If he doesn’t want to do it, will he make you a deal on like the first months rent, or the deposit if you paint & change the fixtures? Might be worth asking about!
****
Thanks Webmiss! I agree that he should at least paint and I think he will. We’ll have to see. And J and I have also discussed that option and will talk to him about it this afternoon!
Glad you’re beginning to feel better, Sweet Pea and what great news about finding something you like so quickly. I so hope it works out for you!

Thank You YC!
House hunting is always a lot of fun. There are millions of model homes around us and I like to visit them for decorating ideas. Not that I have DONE any decorating yet, but soon! Glad you feel better!
Happy Thursday! K

Thanks K! I love looking at houses and once we’re settled I can really decorate you know? As we’ll know we’re going to be there for a few years.
goodluck! i hope you find something that’ll suit you! i wish we could have dogs too, but in tokyo, there’s just no space for them to tun around.

Awwww, that’s sad Caryn. nothing like pyppy breath to brighten any day!! And thanks!
I’m still coughing and snotty too. *sigh* Being in the last stages of a head cold / flu sucks. SO BORING!
I am so jealous that you’ve found 2 nice places in one go! Hubby and I looked at about 30 before we settled on ours. Little Miss Fussy, that’s me
****
(resounding ewwww!) Hope you’re better soon!
Being sick sucks, on the upside I’m only coughing up tiny pieces of lung now.
I’m so fussy too, but this place is perfect in terms of SPACE!!
I agree with J - a built in braai does make ones heart goes boom. In a place like that rehearsing for braaiday becomes easier than ever. good luck
